Your first visit

Your first appointment at Luminess is a consultation with Irene Ratliff. It runs about forty five minutes, and it exists so that you can ask everything you came in with before anyone decides anything.

What to expect

New clients are booked into a consultation rather than a treatment slot. That is deliberate. It means nobody is watching the clock while you ask a question, and it means Irene sees your skin before a plan exists rather than after.

Your clinical history is taken in person, in the room, by Irene. Nothing medical is collected through this website, and the booking page asks only for what is needed to hold a time: a name, a way to reach you, and which treatment you want to talk about. Bring a list of your medications and any prior treatments if you have one; if you do not, she will work through it with you.

If there is time and the treatment suits you, some treatments can be done the same day. Others need a gap, and some are better left for a season with less sun. Irene will tell you which situation you are in.

Before you come

  • Arrive a few minutes early so the paperwork is not eating into your appointment.
  • Bring a photo ID.
  • Come without makeup if you can, particularly for anything involving your skin. If you are coming from work, there is a sink and cleanser here.
  • Leave yourself time afterward rather than booking something tight behind it. Consultations run long more often than they run short.
  • Write your questions down before you leave the house. People forget them in the chair.

Parking and arrival

Luminess Med Spa is at 7540 Gate Parkway, Suite 109, Jacksonville, FL 32256. Parking at the building is free and there is no garage ticket to deal with.

Suite 109 is on the ground floor. Come in and take a seat; the door is not locked during business hours, and there is no need to check in with anyone else in the building first.

How the consultation goes

She listens first
You say what brought you in, in your own words. Most people arrive with a concern rather than a treatment name, and that is the more useful place to start.
She examines
Irene looks at your face in good light, takes your history, and asks about anything relevant in it. This is the part that cannot happen online.
She explains the options
Including the option of doing nothing, or of waiting, or of spending your money on something else entirely. If a treatment is not right for you, she will say so in the room.
You leave with it in writing
A plan and a price on paper, with the sequence and the intervals written down, so you are not reconstructing it from memory in the car.
You decide later if you want
There is no pressure to commit that day, and no discount that expires when you walk out. Take a week. Take a month.

Paying for treatment

Financing is available through Cherry and CareCredit; ask at the front desk.

Hours and getting hold of us

Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Closed Saturday and Sunday.

Call (904) 999-1992 if you need to move an appointment, or if something comes up after a treatment and you would rather speak to someone than read an aftercare sheet again. If nobody picks up, leave a message; the phone is not always answered while Irene is with a client.

Ready when you are

Book the consultation and bring your questions. If you would rather understand a treatment before you sit down for it, the assistant will walk you through what it involves. It does not give medical advice, and it will not tell you whether something suits you.
